Tips for selling Glow products...

Hi, my name is Krystal. For the last 3 years I have been at the forefront of selling glow sticks and flashing novelties at fete's, festivals, and public events. In this time I have learnt some valuable techniques for selling glow products at vrious public events and I would like to pass this valuable knowledge onto you...

Now first and foremost you need to have FUN and be ENERGETIC! No one wants to buy fun products from dull, lifeless people. Whether you are a team of 5 or just on your own, you need to not only sell the product but you have to sell the fun that goes with it.

Do something that is going to attract attention - whether you spruik, play loud music (music that will appeal to your target market), or... maybe you can have someone dancing or juggling... the options are endless! Also remember, always wear a smile!

Now if you do spruik, you have to have something good and interesting to say. Don't just say 'Glow sticks, get your glow sticks!' say something like 'Hey guys, wanna have some fun tonight? Get some glowsticks and stand out in the crowd!' or 'Keep your kids busy tonight with some fun & safe glowsticks, get them right here!' or 'Check out our flashing necklaces - don't miss out on the fun!' or 'Be the life of the party, get your glow sticks now guys!'... Well I'm sure you get the idea! What I'm trying to get at, is try and relate to the type of people you're trying to sell to, for instance, you wouldn't talk about keeping kids busy tonight in a rave or nightclub. Stay relevant to your audience.

Ok, so you have their attention... they walk over to you... now it's your time to shine! Hopefully you will have all you are selling on hand, either in your hand or within reach. Next step is to get them WANTING and NEEDING what ever it is that you are selling. Once they come to you, ask them if they would like to feel it - hold it - play with it a little (good item to do this with are the squishy flashing stars). By allowing them to actually feel it and see how it works, you're making them desire one for themselves.

And here is how to seal the deal. Once they have it in their hand, talk to them, say 'Doesn't that feel great!' or 'They are brilliant aren't they, so bright and fun!' or I guess depending on the person - you could always make a bit of a joke like... 'Stress relief made easy, just squeeze and you're literally glowing!'

I can almost 100% guarantee that everyone will love them once they have seen and felt them in their own hands. So here's the closer... 'Great, so how many would you like?' By asking them a straight forward question like how many?... you're not actually giving them an option of saying yes they want them or no they don't want them. Ultimately they have to answer with a number! And that is exactly what you want!

Here's another tip - create a special deal... something like buy 2 get 1 free. That way you're more likely to sell 2 instead of just one. Instead of everyone just spending $5 at your stall, make them spend $10! Then let them walk away feeling like the money they spent was extremely worth-while and justified!

Now if you want to or need to employ anyone to help you sell, employ someone who is vibrant, fun loving and most of all a people person. This means - someone who isn't scared of having a lot of fun, who always has a smile on their face, and easily has a good laugh with people. This will not only help you sell on the night but chances are next time you are out you will get repeat customers... as I said before - no one wants to buy FUN products from DULL people.

And there you have it...selling glow products really isn't all that hard - quite easy actually! The best part is, business can be extremely lucrative and most of all you can have fun while you're making money... and lets be honest... isn't that what we all strive for?
